I wanted to reach out and thank you and your staff for such a wonderful day last Saturday.  I’m sure that we weren’t the easiest group to work with, haha!  You were so helpful to everyone and super patient. We put all of the pictures on a slide show and played it at the party. Everyone loved it!  Our friends and family repeatedly said how much fun they had and commented on how surprised they were to love the mud run so much. We are already talking about putting a team together for the one in October!

The best part of the day was watching everyone work together and help each other complete the obstacles. Kevin said it was one of the best days of his life!!!!  We all have such wonderful memories from that day. Thank you so much for helping us make that possible.

Above & Beyond Fitness has changed my life. I have grown so much . Tried things I was afraid of. Realized I was a lot stronger that I ever thought. I never thought I would feel comfortable with a trainer or a group. These people have become my family. We have all grown together, started and finished together. When I began working out with abf I didn’t know what I was getting into or what to expect. Soon on I picked a goal and with the help of chad I had no problem accomplishing the goal and feeling amazing about it. There isn’t a gym out there that I have tried that really completed my everyday life.

My initial experience upon entering Above and Beyond Fitness was one filled with anxiety coupled with intimidation after meeting Chad. I was going in with having an issue with emotional eating & being in a dark place. It was the hardest thing training wise that I have EVER experienced. The whole time I was there I thought I can’t do this, I can’t finish & this dude is flipping crazy! Over a year later & being a part of the ABF family I COULD not imagine my life with out it. The inches & weight lost obviously had me standing a bit talker, much happier & a boost to my self esteem. More importantly was what I gained from the finest Trainer I have EVER encountered. Beside the obvious muscle& tone I added a word to my vocabulary (camaraderie)!!! The team effort & ” no man left behind” motto is one I have NEVER experienced before & know it’s one I do not want my life without. The discipline I received from Chad had spilled over into every aspect of my life. Thanks to ABF & Chad Mason, I know my worth, my standards are higher & because I have learned to perceiver through the ” suck” my everyday dealings with life seem to be a built easier. I have said it many times and I will say it again, I could NEVER ever begin to thank CHAD MASON enough for my honest to GOD life changing experience. I could have not possibly have known the night I walked into ABF petrified how important it would be and he would be to my life.

Two months ago I was an out of shape guy, who ate horrible (putting Banana Peppers on a cheese steak was my idea of eating healthy), who dream of being in shape. My wife and I decided to join a gym in the area and on friends advice we gave ABF a try. It took one workout to be hooked. The staff and members welcomed us with open arms.

I’m not going to lie, it was intimidating at first going into a gym that trains athletes that perform (and win) at some of the most extreme events out there. The owner Chad Mason made us fell welcomed and modified our first couple workouts to get us used to the program. With the workouts he creates and the healthy life style he promotes I feel like a new person.

Here are my results: In almost 3 months of working out at ABF I lost close to 15 lbs, 1.5 inches off my waist, ran 1.5 miles 2 mins faster, added an additional 10 push ups and 9 sit ups I can do in 1 min. I eat healthy and feel like a new person. I was a true couch potato, and am now keeping up with “in shape” people. If you have the drive to succeed, ABF will get you there!!

Over a year ago my friend asked if I wanted to come to an “exercise” class with her…at 5am. I chickened out about 5 times and when I ran out of excuses I finally went. I was scared, anything new is scary. Class was great, many exercises I had never done and to be honest a few exercises I never wanted to do again. After class I walked down the driveway and a woman I had never met before said to me. “You will be sore tomorrow trust me.” I laughed and she replied, “I’m not kidding but this is the best sore you will ever feel. What you did today was show up. Not sure why you came but you did and you won’t regret it. You did great today and you will do better tomorrow, I know you will.” I drove home that morning and knew I would be back. If not for myself, for the woman who believed that I would do better. Over a year later, I am stronger, thinner (woohoo!) and have made relationships that will last a life time. I have completed things I never in a million years thought I could do and all with the ABF family cheering me on. I trust these people with my life. At ABF we workout together but it’s so much more. Come try. I can guarantee you will never regret it. I never have.

My own personal journey started a little over a year ago. I was introduced to Chad, and the family. At the time, I was 40 pounds heavier and feeling like something was missing. I needed to do something that would jump start my life. From the first moment I stepped into the doors I knew this was insane, challenging, intense, crazy, awesome, Just what I needed!

My first few weeks I didn’t think I could do it. Chad never gave up on me. Always there to encourage me and give me the push I needed. Chad is more then a “personal trainer” he became a friend, an ear and a shoulder. He was there to listen to my own personal stories of defeat, he would then ask, “how was I going to change?” “what is standing in my way? “Do I really want this?” “How will I make it happen?” These questions I have asked myself a dozen times before, but never answered them. He made me accountable. I needed that!

It wasn’t till I really started to change my thinking that I changed my habits. Each class got easier, and I impressed myself with the things I never thought I could do! Even when I feel less motivated, the whole group is there telling me get back up, you can do it, keep going!

With that came a great sense of accomplishment. These feelings are the driving force! The power from feeling complete, mind, body and spirit is amazing! The group of people that has become “family” is the best!

Everyone is there with their own personal stories, hardships and victories! Each person doing it for their own reasons, but all with the same sorta of goal… To have a better quaintly of life!

ABF, has become more then just a “gym”. Chad, is more then just a “trainer”. They are positive people that help me keep my positive attitude and believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself! I, like most ABF’ers could never truly explain what Chad and his program have really done for me, but if you’re ready for a life changer…. If you’re ready to live a happier, healthier life then ABF is for you. Life is short, make the most of it…. Eat clean, train dirty!

I started at ABF in Sept. of 2012. The first class that I went to was at Camp Ockanickon in Medford and I was wondering what I got myself into. It was a great workout and the other men and women in the class were so friendly and helpful. I started out going 2 days a week and increased to 3 to 5 days a week.

Chad Mason is an exceptional trainer that makes sure you are doing each and every exercise with proper form. For example, if you’re doing dead lifts, you cannot add weight until you have the proper form down to a T. Chad also wants to be sure that you have a well balanced diet. He will keep track of everyone’s diet by checking in on My Fitness Pal.

ABF is not your typical gym. There are no muscle heads, chest banging beefy guys at ABF and no prissy, make up wearing, hair teasing girls that just want to look in the mirror and make sure they look good. If you don’t want to break a sweat, then ABF is not for you. You will get a workout like no other at ABF. ABF stands for Above and Beyond Fitness. But it also stands for All About Family, because you truly feel like you are with family when you are here. Everyone always asks how you are and if you’re having any sort of problem, they are offering help in whatever way they can.

Chad prides himself on the camaraderie at ABF. ABF has significantly changed my life for the better. I look forward to going to the gym and working out. Chad is a great motivator. He will get on the ground with you and push you to keep going if your muscles are burning and you feel like you can’t push on. My favorite saying that I recently got tattooed on my wrist is, ‘You Got This’. This is what Chad always says to everyone, if us at ABF when we are tired and feel that we can’t go on. When I hear this, I push on because I know that I can.

I have done things that I NEVER imagined possible since coming to ABF. I have a healthier diet, I am in the best shape of my life and I’m a 41 year old wife and mom of 4 children. I cannot imagine my life without ABF and Chad Mason. I began working out at ABF simply because I wanted to tone my body. But I have gained confidence, courage, strength and a healthier, happier way of life. If anyone is looking for a great place to workout, I encourage them to come out and try a class at ABF. I am willing to bet that they will fall in love with Chad Mason, the facility, the new way of life and the new family that they will gain from ABF.

Ever since my first class at ABF last summer I was hooked on the positive and inspirational environment that Chad Mason breeds at his gym. Truthfully I was a bit intimidated about going to a workout session with a Marine but as I have gotten to know Chad Ive learned that he’s not only tough but also has a huge heart. Workouts at ABF are definitely what you would call unconventional and I can honestly say that in the nine months of working out there I have not done the same routine twice, one thing is for sure, you get out ABF what you put in. Chad has challenged not only my body but my mind and in the process I have come to realize that I can push myself much further than I ever thought possible. It has also translated to my life outside of the gym to conquer real world obstacles with a willing and positive approach. I would highly recommend Chad Mason and ABF if you’re looking to get fit in a friendly positive encouraging non-judgemental family environment.

Joining Above and Beyond fitness was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was nervous about starting because I am out of shape and I couldn’t fathom doing the exercises I saw online. I sucked it up and went to my first class and was surprised about the strength that lies within me. Chad is an amazing trainer. He is very motivating and supporting. These workouts are not only a physical challenge but it is a mental challenge too. My first work out with ABF I would give up when I felt physically tired but that is when Chad would say “you got this, keep going” and that is when the mental challenge would kick in. After every workout I feel unstoppable and so proud of myself on what I accomplished. I thank Chad and the ABF family and I am honored to be a part of the FAMILY!!!

Why do i love ABF? There are far too many reasons but I will list a few. Chad has a way of making you believe you can do things that you would otherwise say was just not possible. I’ve amazed myself over the last six months at what can be achieved when you have the right person pushing you. Since I’ve been going to ABF, my stomach “issues” have resolved and I’ve literally never felt so good/healthy in my life, not even in my 20’s. But ABF is so much more than the best “workout” I’ve ever had (including gym memberships, many gym classes, kickboxing, Bikram yoga…). It’s a lifestyle change. I think differently about food and how I treat my body. I feel accountable to myself and to my ABF family, especially Chad. He gives so much to us that I can’t help but feel the least I can do is give my all and do my best. Chad truly wants everyone to succeed and progress, and his passion is contagious. I feel like every time I say “I’d never do that” (ie: 36″ box jumps, 10K Mud Runs, SERE…), I find myself excitedly signing up. It’s exciting and addictive, and it’s all thanks to Chad!

You rock and are amazing at what you do. Can’t thank you enough! 🙂

I met Chad through our mutual interest in motorcycles years ago. After an accident left me in a wheel chair for a while and unable to walk for close to three years I contacted ABF in regards to helping me gain the strength back in my legs. At the time I had a hard time standing for more than a few minutes at a time, I had been through 15 surgeries in the previous 3 years to repair my shattered ankles which in the process left me with my left ankle fused. From day one Chad has been there doing everything he can to modify exercise so that I can perform them, helping me get back up when I fall, cheering me on, motivating me, pushing me to keep going, and making me believe that there is nothing I cant do. I truly believe that if it wasn’t for his hard work, dedication and passion for what he does my recovery would not be even close to what it is so far. In a matter of a year I have gone from barely being able to stand, to completing one of the ABF 5+ hour boot camp trainings and preparing for my first mud run. It doesn’t matter how old you are, what shape you are in, what injuries you have, ABF is for anyone and everyone.

Well Let’s begin by saying I am a seasoned adventure seeker. I have worked out since I was 16 on and off. Always struggling with body image issues (I just couldn’t understand why I would never be 5’9 slender and lean like in all the Magazines). As I got older with children it just became harder and the thought of going to a gym was just not motivating. I signed up for my first 5k and loved getting a great workout and being outdoors.

Fast forward many adventures later and last summer I completed my first Ironman Lake Placid. Just hours after completing one of the best moments of my life I had to get rushed in to have my appendix removed. No exercise for 10 weeks. It was the biggest low of my lifetime. To get me out of my funk lets call it. I signed up for ABF Mud Run in the fall. I had 8 weeks to get ready and then came ABF Fitness. It was definitely a mental challenge for me to get back into it. I just didn’t feel the same. Shortly after starting, Chad emailed me and said, “I know you did this Ironman and I know what kind of training you needed please don’t get mad at me but I need to know where your drive is??? It just seems like your flame is out?”.

Now, I’ve been to a million fitness facilities not one showed that kind of compassion or concern. Most wouldn’t even care if I showed up or not? Never mind if my flame was out? Mad at you Chad Mason?? Never. I am thankful to call you one of the best trainers that I have ever had. You keep the workouts challenging mentally and physically. There is always motivation. You know just when to push. I am thankful I stumbled across your fitness family. Everyone has been so warm and welcoming.

For the last 11 years I‘ve dedicated myself to learning about the human body, mind, and spirit. Because of this I have been blessed with great teachers along the way.

If you look around over the years we’ve all seen amazing feats of human strength, endurance, and athleticism. I competed in athletic sports and events at college and semi-pro levels and new how to push myself so I wanted to see how far I could go. I have a fairly extensive understanding on fitness, exercise, and body mechanics and I was doing really well at tough mudders, kettle bell training, running, sprinting, as well as other weight training.

Then one day I had a friend tell me about ABF, so I wanted to check it out and see what it had to offer. Wow!! Talk about taking it to another level. The gains I experienced in the first month were amazing, and I was nowhere near as fit as I thought I was.

I’ve now been training with Chad at ABF for about 7 months and I am stronger than I’ve ever been in some areas and am rapidly making gains to be better then I have in other areas despite multiple shoulder separations, concussions, and other injuries over the years.

My fitness may be at an all-time high and I’m pushing through workouts where before I would have stopped. Additionally, ABF is more than just fitness and strength training; they are about the whole body.

I’m eating cleaner and leaner to support my improved abilities and really starting to see the shape that I desire. On top of all this there is a great family atmosphere and camaraderie with everyone. It’s such a great experience compared to other gyms and facilities that I know I’ve found a home and it’s something you can’t put a price on.

I know I’m committed to bettering myself for a lifetime and I can truly say that the passion and commitment to helping anyone, where ever the road to improvement begins, is here at ABF. I am proud to train here and am excited to see how far I can continue to grow and this is the place to do it!
